5. Do worm gear motors require a break-in period?

Since the tooth flanks of new gearboxes do not yet have optimal load capacity, each gearbox should first run without load for some time and then run at around 50% of the nominal load for around 5 hours. If operation at partial load is not possible, the gearbox should be switched off repeatedly when the operating temperature or the permissible lubricant temperature of 80 °C is reached. A sufficient running-in period is crucial for performance and service life!
